We are going to be busy in mission all over our Turley and area this fall, but we will also have opportunities to worship dynamically with others and engage in conversation with others as well. On several Sundays in September and in October I will be leading bible study at All Souls Church Tulsa at 11:30 a.m. and hope to also catch the New Dimension/All Souls praise music that begins at 11 a.m. After the bible study hope to go out to lunch together, or to other places like this Sunday, Sept. 14 at ShalomFest with Temple Israel.
The bible study will be called Saving Jesus based on DVD by the LivingtheQuestions folks, a continuation of our All Souls bible study in the Spring.
Sept. 14: The world into which Jesus was born, featuring John Dominic Crossan and Walter Brueggemann
Sept. 21: What do we know about Jesus
Sept. 28: Jesus' Birth: Incarnation
Oct. 12: Who Killed Jesus?
Oct. 19: The Atonement
Oct. 26: Revelation (this isn't on the DVD but will be from my resources)
End.

This is a really great idea Ron, and I'll be interested in following how it goes. Where did you get the DVD, and what kinds of restrictions are there on its use?
Tim, hi. You can find out all about Saving Jesus and the other Living the Questions DVD curriculum at www.livingthequestions.com. The link to Saving Jesus' DVD is http://www.livingthequestions.com/xcart/home.php?cat=151.
I think it is the best. I also like the LTQ 2 series but someone accidentally walked off with my copy at GA this year so I won't be using it until I can order a new one. Some of the Saving Jesus material is reused in an expanded way in the LTQ 2 series.
There are also good resource materials to go with the curriculums.
No restrictions on its use.
I have posted previously or on chat about my reservations on all the LTQ curriculums--they are geared to churched people, like beginning seminary students often, and assume a level of biblical and theological language that ministers have but few of the unchurched especially have, so some translating and explaining is in order. Know your audience I guess. Tex Sample brings into the LTQ mix a good use of stories so at least it isnt all in your head stuff. But it is excellent even at that.
I also like the one called Eclipsing Empire that focuses on Paul and features only Borg and Crossan from one of their trips to the middle east with a tour, but it is a little advanced too. Still all doable.
Hope you can use too.
blessings, Ron
